No one at Pevensey so headed to Cooden to find about 5 people out on sails between 3.7 and 4.2. Riggest my smallest and was nearly blown off the water. Came in to flatten sail off, which turned out to be too flat so a few more runs tweaking the sail, but the reality was that the wind was a bit gusty. Waves were huge and perfect for jumping - bit scary for riding. Most had just packed up when I went out and got hit by a lull and wind shift that had me worried about getting back as the sun suddenly broke through. Thankfully I managed to glug back, but a few beaches down due to rip and wind shift. Would have packed up disappointed, but Krafty and Francis were up for more, so I rigged my 5.0 and had another go. First run through the now quite severe shorebreak was ok - little overpowered but nice to have power after glugging. Came in and then had another go at the shorebreak. Not pleasant. The three of us basically eaten alive by it. Was determined to crack it, so persevered and made it out one more time. I stayed out, gybing well way from shore for about 20 minutes before salling it a day. The shorebreak was getting worse all the time and its quite a weird feeling knowing that you're going to have to brave it on the way in too! Scored some massive floaty jumps and some very hard landings and wiggled about on a couple of waves. Some of the waves had you crying for your mummy as they roared in your ear.
